We are excited to welcome Kim Hill to the Seigle’s team! Kim is a Designer and Outside Sales Representative in training at our various locations. What is your favorite thing about working at Seigle’s?
The professionalism of the entire Seigle’s team.
What is your favorite project you’ve worked on?
A remodel of a kitchen, bath, and laundry room in Hawthorn Woods. The transformation was amazing. We even converted a hall closet just off of the kitchen into a dry bar!
What is your favorite option in today’s kitchens?
It’s so hard to pick just one option—there are so many features that have greatly enhanced the functionality of today’s kitchens. If I were to pick one, though, it would be the emphasis on islands, not only for expanded work areas but also for becoming a great spot for entertaining and sometimes even the main eating area for families. Islands are now treated as furniture pieces, often in a different finish and cabinetry style from the rest of the kitchen.
Over your time in the business, what’s the worst design trend you’ve encountered?
While there have been design trends that have cycled and made a return in the building industry, there are a few trends that I don’t see coming back: avocado kitchens, carpeting bathroom floors, and heavy shag carpeting.
If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?
That’s easy! I would make a crown pork roast and serve it with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, roasted vegetables, cranberry sauce (not only for a little bit of sweetness but also to add some color to the table). And for dessert, I’d make a favorite of mine: cherry berries on a cloud.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
I’d have to say anything chocolate. If I had to choose one thing, it would be Portillo’s chocolate cake.
What is the most thrilling thing you’ve ever done?
I went snorkeling and swam with sharks and stingrays while vacationing in the Dominican Republic. Okay…I have to admit that they were nurse sharks, but none the less, they were sharks!
What is your favorite room in your house?
That would be our great room. It’s in the center of our house and where we do all of our entertaining. There’s no TV in that room, so it is a perfect area for socializing.
If you had a 25 hour day while everyone else has only 24, what would you do with your extra time?
I would definitely donate that time to volunteering.
What is the top item on your bucket list?
To visit all 50 of the United States.
