Before and After: Incredible Kitchen Remodel in Aurora, IL

We recently completed an amazing kitchen remodel in Aurora. The owner was a repeat Seigle’s customer, having remodeled her kitchen 22 years ago. She wanted to update her old cabinets from a darker maple finish to a totally different look. She still liked her granite countertop, so we worked with it in the new design.

We chose cabinets with a shaker look and inset door painted white along the perimeter. The island is finished in a cutting-edge fashionable stain.

Special features of the new design include:

  • Bar fridge
  • Pull out base spice rack
  • Built-in base microwave
  • Tall pantry storage with decorative doors on the side

We only had 18 inches on the left side of the cooktop in the island, so we got creative with the design. We used a 36-inch wide base cabinet with 2 roll trays, reduced the depth to 18 inches, finished the sides with decorative doors, and then turned it sideways to face the fridge. This gave her more storage in the island. Then we dressed up the back of the island with a wainscoted panel.
