We recently completed a gorgeous remodel in Trout Valley, Illinois. The owners of this contemporary ranch were looking to give their kitchen an updated style and to create a functional workflow. The clients’ desire was to create a more open floorplan by removing a wall and creating an open concept. This allowed for maximum function with a minimum of visual obstacles.
What makes this monochromatic palette so interesting is the mixture of materials. The kitchen highlights the juxtaposition of gloss acrylic and weathered cherry wood, along with: patterned resin door inserts, bronze metal frames, quartz countertops, wood planked flooring, and a natural travertine backsplash. The contrasting materials create a “design-forward” and comfortable space.
