Cooking Up Cabinet Ideas Series: Design with Four Legged Friends in Mind

One of the most exciting parts of remodeling a kitchen is picking out a unique, creative feature. Often, this feature will be memorable and will be the talking point when you are giving friends and family a first tour, showing off what you’ve done. It also usually is extremely smart and functional, changing how you use your new space.

Seigle’s Designers are constantly Cooking Up Cabinet Ideas—that’s because they know functional, creative cabinet features that work for our customers. The first Cabinet Idea we wanted to feature is a space designed just for our four-legged friends. Over 50% of US Households have one or more pets, and creative kitchens keep our furry friends in mind.

In a recent kitchen, designed by dog-lover Sally Gange, the owner wanted a special spot included for their dog. Gange recommended something she’s included in a few dog-friendly kitchens: a dog bed where Fido can feel at home and safe, but also away from the major traffic patterns of the room.

“You can create this look with any cabinet line—just replace base cabinets with this space. It doesn’t cost any more than the base cabinets would,” says Gange. “The feature would work in the kitchen, laundry, mud room, or den. You could also consider a pet feeding station.”

Check out the pet-friendly feature below:
