Fascinating Look at Kitchen Remodel Trends from Houzz

If you are dreaming of a new kitchen, you want to land in the perfect spot where popularity and your personal tastes align. Lately, kitchen design trends have created the happy marriage of stylish and timeless—gorgeous, functional kitchens that have beauty that will last. Best of all, today’s simpler styles are more affordable than the intricate products and finishes of the past. Interested to see what kitchen trends are for 2019? Houzz recently put together a study of what’s popular in kitchen remodels today.

A few highlights from Houzz:

• Top features to upgrade when remodeling a kitchen are:
1. Countertops
2. Backsplash
3. Sinks
4. Faucets/plumbing fixtures
5. Lighting fixtures
6. Cabinets
7. Flooring

  • Size: Around 35 Percent of kitchen remodels enlarge the kitchen.
  • Countertops: Quartz is the top selection for countertops at 48%. Natural stone follows at 43%. Nearly 1/3 of upgraded counters are done in a shade of white.
  • Backsplashes: Backsplashes are largely ceramic/porcelain (87%) in material, classic brick in pattern (54%), and white in color (35%).
  • Flooring: 69% of customers are choosing engineered flooring.
  • Appliances: As usual, stainless steel reigns for appliances at 69%, but Houzz notes that 10 percent of customers are choosing black stainless steel, which marks an uptick in that selection.
  • Wall paint: Most customers are choosing neutral colors: Gray (31%), White (24%), and Beige (19%).
