Insider’s Look Part 2: Lake Geneva Custom Cabinets include Hidden Pet Bed, Bedroom Coffee Bar, and Dream Wine Cabinet

Last week we showed you the incredible new kitchen in a custom built home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The owner had a very particular vision about what they wanted in each space of the home, so Seigle’s worked with their designer to provide fully custom cabinets to bring that dream to reality. The kitchen is amazing—and you haven’t even seen the most wow-worthy parts of the house yet! 

“Custom cabinets are the most flexible, and personal option. It allows for us to customize to the homeowner’s wishes. It can be compared to having your own personal chef—if you can imagine it and it’s structurally stable, you can have it,” said Tracey Paulson, Seigle’s designer. “You are not restricted by standard sizes as we can make specifically to the space which allows optimization of storage. Shop-built drawings can be submitted to engineering for a custom-built piece—this is what happened with the incredible custom wine cabinet in this home. Face frames can be re-aligned for aesthetic purposes. Custom finishes and wood species are offered. Possibilities abound.”

For this home, the homeowner’s, along with their interior designer, focused on a creating a space that was based on timeless design with all the modern day conveniences. With a very busy lifestyle it was important to work with a cabinet line that could provide solutions and offerings that could marry functionality with steadfast design.

Notable custom features:

• Weathered and glazed finishes
• Realigned the face frames at vanity drawers to allow for custom velvet jewelry inserts
• Added a dog bed space by removing the cabinet floor and attaching toe kicks to doors
• Customized drawer heads to create the look of a three drawer base for aesthetic purposes
• In kitchen support room, realigned the face frames so that the bottom of wall cabinet doors line up
• Included charging drawers for phones, ipad, etc.
• Custom bench seats in the office
• Custom wine cabinet with doors designed to look like inset drawers, as the goal was to reproduce an antique apothecary cabinet. Doors were needed in order to allow for the venting to go through the cabinet as the top unit is refrigerated.
