Meet the Team: Sierra Gilchrist

We are excited to welcome Sierra Gilchrist to the Seigle’s team! Sierra is joining the team as an Assistant Sales Representative at Geneva, where she will support the inside sales/designer, take care of walk-in clients, maintain the showroom, and help brainstorm design ideas on projects. We sat down with Sierra to get to know what makes her tick. Read on to find out more about her favorite kitchen project, her design style, her guilty pleasure, and more!

What is your favorite thing about working at Seigle’s?
I enjoy getting to express myself through design and getting to help clients with major decisions to make their home theirs.

What is your favorite project you’ve worked on and why?
Bailey had a client who wanted multiple options for her kitchen. She told Bailey to design it how we would do the kitchen with the available space. We each drew up our own designs.

Bailey presented both to the client to see what she liked and didn’t like. The client ended up loving my design and changed only one or two small things. It was a lot of fun getting to compare our preferences and what we did alike. It was also a lot of fun to sit down and brainstorm together ways to go about fixing potential configuration issues.

What is your favorite option in today’s kitchens?
I love dark stains and moody aesthetics. I am happy that dark colors are gradually coming back in trend. I personally am not a fan of white. I especially love black cabinets with light countertops—very moody and warm.

Over your many years in the business, what’s the worst design trend you’ve encountered?
Wood paneling on walls. It was very very popular in the 80s and 90s. I grew up in a house that had a massive room with all wood paneling and I thought it was absolutely hideous. I am very glad it has gone out of style!

If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?
I am not the best cook so I honestly would probably order food to be delivered/catered.

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Chinese food from Lucky Panda!

What is the most thrilling thing you’ve ever done?
I took a school trip to New York City, swam with dolphins in Florida, and got to meet a three-toed sloth at Brookfield Zoo!

What is your favorite room in your house?
My bedroom—it is the place where my family and I spend the most time, whether it be watching TV or just hanging out together. My family consists of me, my husband, and our two dogs. So we have both of their beds, our TV, and my husband’s game systems. So it is the main gathering place, the heart of the home.

If you had a 25 hour day while everyone else has only 24, what would you do with your extra time?
I would spend it with family. Life is too short. That extra hour may only be an hour, but it is still extra time I would get to spend with those I care about the most. Especially since I have two dogs, it would be an extra hour I would get to spend with them.

What is the top item on your bucket list?
The item on the top of my bucket list is to one day take a trip to Norway with my husband. I would love to see the landscape and see the culture there.
