Seigle’s has built a long tradition and corporate culture of giving back to the community. As a reflection of that culture, Mark Seigle has been involved with Kiwanis Club of Elgin for over 30 years. Kiwanis Clubs focus on changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time. “Not only does Kiwanis provide fellowship, it favorably impacts underserved children in our community,” said Mark.
Kiwanis Club of Elgin makes a real, lasting impact on area children. In 2013, working with the City of Elgin, Elgin Housing Authority, and Elgin Golden K’s, Kiwani’s Park was dedicated at National and Raymond Streets in Elgin, and this summer over 1000 free lunches have been served to area children in the new gazebo. In addition, every year, the Kiwanis come together for Kiwanis One Day, a national day of volunteering. And currently the Kiwanis are working on Project Eliminate, raising funds to support the Kiwanis International effort to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus, which is responsible for nearly 60,000 deaths of infants each year. The Kiwanis Club of Elgin also sponsors “Bringing Up Grades,” a program to help local elementary school children.
As part of their fundraising efforts, Kiwanis is hosting their 55th Annual Kiwanis Barbecue soon. So you can help support the great cause, and eat a delicious dinner from Fays BBQ.
