We recently completed a gorgeous kitchen remodel in Evanston, Illinois. The owner wanted a more current kitchen that reflected the times yet still transitioned nicely with their charming English Cottage home. As in any good kitchen design, we first tackled the objective of a good working floorplan. This particular kitchen challenged the workflow with its obstacles—the placement of the windows and the many openings to the kitchen both had to be considered. But, with perseverance and good design, we arrived at an excellent working floorplan that would have great workflow, plenty of storage, and wow-worthy aesthetics. Once the homeowner was pleased with the design, we added style and personality with finishes, textures, and color scheme—the Mt Aetna blue color on the perimeter paired nicely with a specialty cerused finish on oak.
The owners love several standout features in this kitchen: the custom Stanisci wood hood, the non-traditional use of crown moulding, the pullout pantry, the waste/recycle cabinet, and several custom inserts.
