Meet the Team: Get to Know Jennifer Markulin

We are excited to welcome Jennifer Markulin to the Seigle’s team! Jennifer is joining the team in Outside Sales and design. She has been working in the industry since 2002. We sat down with Jennifer to get to know what makes her tick. Read on to find out more about her favorite (and least favorite!) design trends, the most thrilling thing she’s done, her guilty pleasure, and more!

What is your favorite thing about working at Seigle’s? 
My favorite thing is the team atmosphere—everyone is so helpful.

What is your favorite project you’ve worked on and why? 
So far my favorite project has been remodeling 3 bathrooms for a family in Chicago. They had amazing views of Lake Michigan, and it was really fun to get to know them through the process and being able to really tailor each bathroom to suit the user.

What is your favorite option in today’s kitchens?
I love using more than one cabinet color. You can really create a custom look simply by adding in another color—maybe a contrast island or a fun color for the wall cabinets.

Over your many years in the business, what’s the worst design trend you’ve encountered?
The worst design trend is carpet in the bathroom. Yuck!

If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?
Hmmm, it would be some kind of pasta dish. I like to experiment with pasta dishes and use different fresh veggies/herbs, and various sauces.

What’s your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is kettle cooked chips. I usually have a giant bag from Costco stashed somewhere in my house and only eat it when no one else is around.

What is the most thrilling thing you’ve ever done?
Swimming with sting rays off the coast of Morea. They are such gentle creatures!

What is your favorite room in your house?
Definitely our family room. I love the fireplace in the winter, the snuggle spot to read books, and the games for game night. Oh, and the wine fridge too.

If you had a 25 hour day while everyone else has only 24, what would you do with your extra time?
Sleep!

What is the top item on your bucket list?   
Top of my bucket list is to stay at the Witchery By The Castle in Edinburgh. It is absolutely beautiful and unique.
