Owners of a new home in Lake Geneva had a very specific vision for their home, which could only be achieved using custom cabinetry. We’ve looked at the gorgeous kitchen, the wow-worthy creative spaces that used custom cabinets throughout the home, and we’ve even taken a peek inside the cabinets. Now it’s time to get up close to the show-stopper that has everyone talking: that custom wine cabinet!
The owners are wine enthusiasts and wanted the look of an antique apothecary cabinet. However, doors were needed in order to allow for the venting to go through the cabinet, as the top unit is refrigerated. The cabinet houses ductwork in two locations in order to cool the upper wine section. In order to achieve that the lower section must be free from the obstruction of doors.
Seigle’s Designer Tracey Paulson drew a sketch of the cabinet and submitted it to DuraSupreme Cabinetry. She then discussed with their engineering team how to structurally make the piece work.
They were able to achieve the look using all doors that are designed to look like inset drawers. Drawer heads were attached to a backer board (door) and then a special bead rail was included between drawer heads to give the inset look.
